Study Chinese in China
for high school and college students
Our month-long Intensive Chinese Language Program is hosted by accredited Chinese universities who provide a transcript to students who successfully complete their studies. The program will be held at Beijing Language and Culture University, China's premiere higher education institution for instruction of Chinese language and culture, in Beijing and/or Nanjing.

Program Description

Timeframe: late June to late July in 2008 for four weeks of intensive Chinese language plus a three-day tour to Shanghai and Hangzhou at the end of study

Location: Beijing and/or Nanjing, China

Host: Beijing Language and Culture University, China's leading university in teaching Chinese language and culture and alma mater of many of China’s leading international figures

Targeted participants: high school students 13 to 18 years old; college students 17-and older; interested adults will be considered for inclusion, space permitting

Target group size: groups of 15 students with four chaperons

Courses: all levels of Chinese language lessons, from beginners through intermediate and advanced levels; students' levels are determined by a placement test given on the first day of classes. Text books and materials are provided by the host.

Transcripts and certificate: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued a certificate of program completion and an official transcript carrying 4-6 university credits; BLCU is a Chinese Key University and is fully accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Tours:
Beijing or Nanjing (weekend tours), Shanghai (2 days tour) and Hangzhou (1 day excursion). In Beijing you will visit the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Tian An Men Square, and Wangfu Jing Street. In Nanjing you will visit sites from among Xuyuan Garden, Sun Yan Sen Mausoleum; Fuzimiao Temple, Zijinshan Observatory, Nanjing Museum, Mochou Lake and Mt. Qixia. In Shanghai, you will visit the Shanghai Museum, Nanjing Road and the Bund, Yu Garden, and Pudong New Economic District. In Hangzhou you will tour West Lake, a Dragon Well Tea Farm, Lin Yin Temple and monastery and the Silk District.
Program Cost: $4,995 including international airfare, tuition and fees for the four week program, housing for the duration of the program, tours, registration, on-site supervision, chaperons, group leader, round trip airfare, in country transportation for tours, entry fees and airport taxes, and meals on tours.

Not included: Visa ($125), required travel insurance (usually $45-$65, depending on age), meals during the study program (estimated at $5-$10/day, and $15 in tips for tour guides and drivers (on the 3-day tour of Shanghai and Hangzhou), other personal expenses Wanda purchases.
